MANDATORY REFUSE COLLECTION AND RELEASE FROM SUBSCRIPTION TO REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICES

Mandatory waste removal (organized waste collection) and exemption from waste service

Mandatory waste removal (organized waste collection) and exemption from waste service

Under Section 69 of the Waste Act, a waste holder (e.g., property owner) is considered a participant in the organized waste collection system in their residential or activity area.

To obtain an exemption from waste collection, the waste holder must submit an exemption request to the local municipality. If the request is approved, the municipality will notify the waste holder.

You can check the decision directly with your local municipality or in the self-service portal of your waste service provider, where you will find relevant information and any issued invoices.

A waste holder who does not submit an exemption request within the specified timeframe is automatically included in organized waste collection.

This means that if you have not signed a contract with a waste service provider and do not have written authorization for an exemption, you are automatically covered by the agreement signed by the local municipality with the waste provider.
